Arriving somewhere new is always more relaxing when the paperwork is out of the way. Here are five simple things that help your entry into Jamaica go smoothly.
1. Complete your C5 form before you fly
Prepare your C5 declaration in advance rather than at the airport. Your details are ready when you reach the desk, and there is nothing to fill in while you are tired from travelling.
2. Keep your documents together
Have your passport, confirmation and accommodation address in one place — on your phone and, ideally, printed as a backup. A dead battery should never hold up your arrival.
3. Know your address of stay
Officers will ask where you are staying. Whether it is a hotel, a villa or a family home, have the full address written down so you can answer without hunting for it.
4. Declare honestly
If you are carrying goods above your allowance, or currency over the reportable limit, declare it. Being upfront is quick; being unclear is what causes delays.
5. Give yourself time
Build a little buffer into your plans for the day you arrive. With everything prepared, most travellers are through in minutes — and the rest of the trip is yours to enjoy.
